Math: As you are aware, we have a new math adoption this year. Glencoe, the publisher of the book does have a website where the students can go for extra help. The site is www.glencoe.com.
On the site you will find a personal tutor, test prep, self check quizzes and numerous other helpful activities. When you first get to the site, you will have to go the pull down menu and select State "Arizona", and then click on "Student". In the subject field, select "Math" and the course is "Math Connects, Course 1". It sounds like a lot, but the site will walk you through it.
Grades Online: Please check your child's grades online regularly. I always try to post grades within 48 hours, often less, of the due date. However, please keep in mind that longer assignments, such as lengthy writing pieces may require a little more time to grade.
If you notice that your child has a grade showing up in a color different from the rest of the grades that means I have made a written comment concerning that grade. If you click on the grade, you will be able to see my comment. The comments can be positive in nature, or an explanation to a lower grade, such as turned in late, incomplete, etc.
If you do not have the web address to PowerSchool, your child's unique user name and password, please come by the office and pick it up. I do not have that information; you must obtain it from the office. Your child's user name and password will stay the same throughout their academic career in the Deer Valley Unified School District.
FYI: The best way to reach me during the day is email. My email address is: helen.neese@dvusd.org. The phone number to the classroom is: 602-467-5581. The ringers are turned off during the day, but you can leave a message. Also, please feel free to jot me notes in the student assignment notebook. Since I check those daily, I will see your note, and reply to you directly in the planner.
